About Us

Club's History

The first time I attended a Toastmasters session I was 14 years old. My uncle, Don Manuel Ortega Serrano, invited me to accompany him to his club one Thursday in the summer of 1997. I was surprised. The meeting was held in the event room of a Hotel in the city of Matamoros, Tamaulipas. All attendees were elegantly dressed according to the occasion. I really enjoyed the exquisite speeches and a delicious dinner. Several times afterwards, I returned with pleasure to accompany my uncle to his club.

In the month of November of that same year I had the opportunity to attend the National Autumn Convention, in the city of San Luis Potosí. There I met people who represented clubs from different cities of the country. I even got to be on stage, helping my uncle and other participants with the overhead projector during their performances.

Today, just over 15 years later, I am fortunate to preside over the board of officers of the Toastmasters Mexicrea Club, in the city of Saltillo, Coahuila, for the 2013-2014 term. This dream is today a reality. Our club was officially founded on October 31, 2013, with the aim that many more people can benefit from the advantages of belonging to this organization. Those of us who make it up are convinced that there is not only growth for the new leaders and communicators who attend the sessions, but also that a positive impact is generated on those around them: their families, their co-workers, and society in general.

I firmly believe that accompanied by my team of officers from the board of directors, as well as by each of the members of our club, we will be able to contribute to the changes that our country and our planet need.

I would like to thank all the members that are part of this wonderful group, our sister club in Saltillo: Comunicación, Amistad y Cultura, and our current Area Governor: Luis Dorbecker, who has been our mentor from the beginning. Thanks to all of you for all your support, dedication and commitment.

Friends, this club is yours and for you. This new space on the web will allow us to continue sharing our ideas, activities and projects. All your contributions are welcome. Enjoy it a lot and see you on Thursday at the club.

Receive a strong hug,

Alma Rosa Montes Hinojosa, CC.
